THE Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry “Agila” Division (10ID) has successfully conducted Local Absentee Voting (LAV), allowing 794 of its personnel to vote ahead of the May 12, 2025, national and local elections.
This group is among the 57,689 individuals approved by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for early voting nationwide. The list includes 29,030 Armed Forces personnel, 23,448 police officers, 4,206 government employees, and 1,005 media members.
Held at the 10ID headquarters in Barangay Tuboran, 185 personnel voted on-site, while 609 others cast their ballots from their respective brigades and battalions. The initiative ensures that soldiers on election duty can fulfill both civic and professional responsibilities without disruption.
By enabling early voting, the 10ID ensures its troops can stay focused on their primary mission: maintaining peace and security at polling centers within its Joint Operational Area (JOA).
The Division stressed that its participation in the LAV reflects the military’s strong commitment to democratic principles and its crucial role in protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
“The 10ID remains steadfast in its duty to support free, fair, and orderly elections,” the command said, emphasizing its commitment to democracy and securing the integrity of the polls.
Through LAV, military personnel are permitted to vote for 12 senatorial candidates and one party-list group using automated counting machines. However, they are not allowed to vote for local candidates.
The 10ID reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and protecting voters throughout its Joint Operational Area during the election period. DEF
