AUTHORITIES are still investigating the motive behind the brutal killing of a young girl, allegedly by her aunt's live-in partner on Monday evening, April 28, 2025.
According to a police report, the Nabunturan Municipal Police Station (MPS) received a call at around 7:40 p.m. on the same day through the PNP hotline from Barangay Matilo Captain Apolonio A. Monera Jr., reporting the discovery of a dead body inside a house at Purok 4 of the same barangay.
Nabunturan MPS personnel, led by PLtCol. Eduard B. Jungco, chief of police, along with the duty investigator, immediately responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the 12-year-old victim lifeless inside a room of the house.
Initial investigation revealed that at around 6:40 p.m., Loujean Venosa, the live-in partner of the victim’s older brother, discovered the body. She found the victim lying face down on the bed, covered with a blanket. When she uncovered the blanket, she saw that the victim had a large slash wound on her neck and was already dead at that time.
Bloodstains were found on the bed, the walls, and the floor of the room.
A hot pursuit operation was immediately launched by Nabunturan MPS against the alleged suspect, Erwin Guillas Solis, the live-in partner of the victim’s aunt.
At around 12:20 a.m. on April 29, 2025, Solis, a 27-year-old laborer and resident of the same area, was arrested by Nabunturan police in coordination with Laak police and personnel from the 1st Davao de Oro Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st DDDOPMFC).
As of press time, the suspect is already in the custody of Nabunturan MPS for documentation and proper disposition. The necessary documents are also being prepared to file charges against him through inquest proceedings. WGM
