FROM sold-out concerts to international acclaim, BINI solidified their title as the "Nation's Girl Group" in 2024, a year that marked their meteoric rise and reshaped the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) scene.
Humble beginnings
Formed in 2020 through ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy, BINI—composed of Jhoanna, Stacey, Aiah, Mikha, Maloi, Colet, Sheena, and Gwen—overcame early challenges, including the pandemic, to debut with “Born to Win” in 2021. Hits like “Kapit Lang” and tracks from their Feel Good album laid the groundwork for their success.
Breakthrough hits and stardom
BINI’s viral hit “Pantropiko” dominated 2024, becoming a TikTok dance craze and the summer anthem. It topped Spotify Philippines’ Daily Top Songs, hit 100 million streams, and propelled the group to global recognition. Their Talaarawan EP, featuring “Salamin, Salamin,” further cemented thei success.
In March, BINI entered Spotify’s Top Artists Global chart and, by June, became the first Filipino artist to top Spotify Philippines’ Daily Top Artists, surpassing Taylor Swift.
Global recognition
BINI’s international journey included appearances on China’s Show It All and a performance at KCON 2024 in Los Angeles. They received the Voices of Asia Award alongside SB19 at Billboard Korea’s Power 100 event in Seoul. Their achievements culminated in November when BINI became the first Filipino act to win “Best Asia Act” at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Unmatched accolades
BINI dominated year-end charts: “Salamin, Salamin” topped Apple Music’s Best Songs of 2024 in the Philippines, while their music videos ranked #1 and #2 on YouTube. Spotify recognized them as the Top Group and Top Local Artist, with “Pantropiko” landing in the Top 5 Songs.
Google also crowned BINI as the Most Searched Female Personality in the Philippines, with member Mikha Lim securing the 10th spot. “Salamin, Salamin” and “Pantropiko” ranked among the platform’s top searched songs.
Historic BINIverse concert series
In March 2024, BINI and Star Music announced their first major solo concert, Biniverse, to celebrate their third anniversary. Scheduled for June 28 at the New Frontier Theater, tickets sold out in under two hours, prompting an extension to June 30, with both dates selling out quickly. The group made history as the first Filipino girl group to hold three consecutive sold-out shows at the venue.
Due to overwhelming demand, Biniverse expanded into a nationwide tour: Baguio (July 6), Cebu City (July 14), and General Santos (July 20). A North American leg followed, with performances in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto in August.
At the third-day of the concert, BINI announced The Grand Biniverse at the Araneta Coliseum, later rescheduled to November 16-19 for health and safety concerns. Tickets sold out within hours, with an additional date added due to fan demand.
The concert concluded with the announcement of Grand Biniverse: The Valentine Repeat at the Philippine Arena on February 15, 2025, alongside their upcoming track "Blink Twice".
BINI’s unprecedented success in 2024 not only elevated P-Pop to new heights but also showcased Filipino talent on the global stage. Truly, 2024 is the year of BINI. RGL
