THE Police Regional Office – Davao Region (PRO-Davao) reported four cases of election gun ban violations in the region as of January 20, 2025.

PMaj. Catherine Dela Rey, PRO-Davao spokesperson, said that two violations stemmed from police operations, while the other two were from buy-bust operations.

Those caught carrying firearms without authorization from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will face charges of illegal possession of firearms and violating the Omnibus Election Code Gun Ban.

In preparation for the midterm elections, PRO-Davao activated the Regional Election Monitoring Action (Rema) Center to coordinate field monitoring efforts.

Dela Rey also said that, based on the Joint Security Command Center meeting, the Davao Region is categorized as "green," indicating no election-related incidents so far.

However, she said that security measures would remain strict, underscoring that "green" status does not mean dropping vigilance. PRO-Davao continues to collaborate with politicians to assess any potential threats.

“Dili pasabot na green ta or walay areas of concern nga nibaba pod ang atoang lebel sa pagbantay nga mahimong clean, honest, and sucessful ang himuon national and local elections (It doesn't mean that just because we're green or there are no areas of concern, we should lower our level of vigilance. We must ensure that the national and local elections are clean, honest, and successful),” she said.

Dela Rey added that their focus will be on maintaining security, particularly during the campaign period, to prevent any disorder caused by politicking. RGP
