PATIENTS in provincial hospitals across Davao de Oro can now rest more comfortably as 60 new hospital beds with foam mattresses were formally turned over on July 14, 2025, with 40 units delivered to the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital (DDOPH) in Montevista.
The donation was made possible through the continued efforts of Team Lambo Davao de Oro, led by Governor Raul “Ralph” M. Mabanglo, Congresswoman Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo, and Congressman Jhong Ceniza, with support from private individuals and friends of the officials.
This latest development follows the recent installation of 85 wall fans in various hospital wards across the province, part of the local government's push to improve hospital facilities and patient care services.
The new beds were distributed as follows: 40 units to Montevista, 10 to Maragusan, five to Pantukan, and five to Laak. Additional foam mattresses are expected to arrive in the coming weeks through continued collaboration with the province’s partners.
DDOPH-Montevista Chief of Hospital Dr. Ferdinand Anthony C. Soberano expressed gratitude to the officials and private donors, acknowledging that the hospital had long depended on equipment donations from the Department of Health (DOH). He said the recent delivery of beds significantly addresses their long-standing needs, especially after the facility was previously affected by an earthquake.
Dr. Soberano emphasized that help has finally reached them, boosting their capacity to serve patients more effectively, and he welcomed the timely response from the local government.
The shortage of proper hospital beds was one of the pressing concerns identified by Gov. Mabanglo and Reps. Zamora-Mabanglo and Ceniza during their rounds across provincial health facilities.
