SEVEN higher education institutions from the Davao Region have earned spots in the prestigious 2025 EduRank list of top universities and colleges in the Philippines. The list, which assesses universities based on academic performance, reputation, and alumni influence, highlights the growing academic stature of institutions in Mindanao.

The University of Mindanao (UM) continues to lead the HEIs in EduRank list in the region, securing the 21st spot in the national ranking and 2,223rd position in Asia. UM, founded in 1946, previously ranked 19th in the 2024 EduRank list for universities based on merit, and it remains a dominant force in the region's academic landscape.

Other notable universities from Davao include Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), which secured 24th place nationally, and the University of the Philippines Mindanao (UP Mindanao), ranking 49th. The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) followed closely at 51st, while the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) ranked 69th. Davao Doctors College (DDC) and Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) also made it to the list, securing positions at 117th and 126th, respectively.

Nationally, the top spots were claimed by the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, followed by De La Salle University Manila, Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, and UP Los BaƱos.

EduRank, a globally recognized ranking platform, evaluates universities based on various criteria, including research output, non-academic prominence, and alumni impact. The rankings for 2025 were derived from an analysis of over 850,000 citations from 80,000 academic publications across 229 universities in the Philippines. DEF
