THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Davao Region (LTFRB-Davao) reported that around 73 percent of the total population of Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers in the region have received their Pantawid Pasada Program (PPP) cards.

Engr. Ronnel Victor Panigon, transportation development officer of LTFRB-Davao, said their office has distributed PPP cards to 10,345 out of 14,149 drivers, and they have already been credited with the fuel subsidy as of January 2025. Each of the recipients is set to receive around P6,500 worth of fuel subsidy.

“We are in close coordination with Landbank of the Philippines kay sila man mag-credit, ang budget mag download sa ila. Sila ang mag-credit sa mga cards sa atoang mga stakeholders,” he said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw, on Monday, April 14, 2025, at SM City Davao.

(We are in close coordination with the Landbank of the Philippines because they will be the ones to credit the budget once it is downloaded to them. They will credit the amount to the cards of our stakeholders).

Panigon added that the remaining 27 percent consists of drivers who still need to update their cards with the bank so that they will receive the fuel subsidy.

He also said that the distribution process would not be affected by the upcoming election period since the budget has already been downloaded to the bank.

Panigon said they expect the number of credited drivers to increase in the coming months.

in 2024, approximately 14,471 units benefited from the program in the Davao Region.

The PPP is the government’s flagship social mitigation program that provides fuel subsidies to drivers. It provides a one time cash grant to PUV drivers. The assistance is distributed through fuel cards and is funded through the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (Train) Law.

Launched in July 2018, the program aims to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices brought about by the imposition of excise taxes under the Train Law, as well as fluctuations in global petroleum prices. RGP
