THE Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) has recorded a total of 874 members of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) who have surrendered within its jurisdiction since June 2024.

EastMinCom spokesperson Lt. Col. Salvacion Evangelista shared the data during the Davao Peace and Security Press Briefing held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, noting that the figure covers the period under the leadership of EastMinCom commander Lt. Gen. Rex Luis Bergante.

Evangelista confirmed that all 874 individuals have officially surrendered and renounced their ties with the CTGs.

She attributed the steady rise in surrenderers to the immediate assistance provided by local government units, coupled with support from the national government through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip).

The program offers a holistic package of benefits aimed at facilitating the return of former rebels to mainstream society.

She added that those facing legal charges are given the opportunity to apply for reprieve under the government’s amnesty program. Evangelista noted that several “friends rescued” — a term used by the military to refer to former rebels, have already been granted amnesty.

Evangelista also emphasized that the government ensures the welfare of surrenderers, noting that they are well taken care of.

As of the latest update, around 20 former rebels have already availed themselves of the amnesty program.

She further disclosed that forums have recently been conducted to assist those still undergoing the application process or facing unresolved legal cases.
