AMYA Polytechnic College (AMYAPCI) will hold its first fundraising fun run, “Race to Raise,” on July 13, 2025, at Davao Global Township (DGT) in Matina, Davao City, to raise funds for its athletic scholarship program.
The event seeks to support more than 90 student-athletes from Amya’s high school and college departments. Many of them relocated from different provinces to study and train in Davao. AMYAPCI currently shoulders the scholars' tuition, dormitory accommodations, meals, and basic daily needs. With increasing costs, the school launched the fun run to help sustain its full-support model.
“One of our programs is really to help these athletes and talented students na makapadayon, makahuman sa ilang pagskwela (We want to help these athletes stay in school and complete their education),” said Mark Joseph Nipas, AMYAPCI’s quality assurance director and the event organizer. “That's why we really decided na, to have this event nga para gyud pud sa ilaha, kay first ni siya, para matagaan silag paagi for funds (That’s why we started this event—it’s for them. We want to give people a way to contribute).”
The fun run features three race distances open to the public. The 3K race, with a ₱500 registration fee, runs from DGT to Quimpo Citi Hardware. The 5K category, priced at ₱750, follows a route up to Lechoneros Quimpo. The 10K race, with a ₱1,000 fee, stretches from DGT to Quimpo–Sandawa–AdDU High School.
Top finishers in each category will receive cash prizes, with separate divisions for male and female runners.
All participants will receive an event singlet, race bib, snacks, and a finisher’s medal.
The race will run from 4:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., and registration remains open until July 5, 2025.
As Amya strengthens its presence in both academics and athletics, Nipas hopes the Race to Raise will draw community support and highlight the determination of student-athletes who run not only for sport, but for their future. Shema Kailah Buhayan Sacman, AdDU Intern
