THE Ancillary Service Unit (ASU) is hopeful that barangays in Davao City will collaborate with them in carrying out clearing operations for 2025.
Paul Bermejo, ASU head, emphasized the importance of barangay involvement, particularly in maintaining road and canal clearance. He noted that the ASU conducted 38 joint clearing operations last year, which were endorsed by barangays, and they aim to increase these efforts this year.
“Ug kami naka-expect me sa ASU, na naga-expect mI sa ASU nga naa na pud sa barangay ang pag-maintain kanang pag-clear sa mga kanal and barangay roads (We at ASU are expecting the barangays to maintain the clearing of canals and barangay roads),” he said in a radio interview on Monday morning, January 13, 2024.
Bermejo highlighted that if barangays established their clearing units, the ASU would no longer need to revisit cleared areas. Instead, ASU personnel would monitor the areas while the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) handles enforcement, such as issuing citation tickets.
“Isa lang gyud ang solution ana, mag collaborate mi’s barangay unya ma-turnover namo sa ilaha and then sila na ang bahala mag maintain and mag clear (The only solution is to collaborate with the barangays, turn over the responsibility to them, and let them manage the maintenance and clearing efforts),” he said.
