
THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Davao Region (Bfar-Davao) condemns the tragic death of its Assistant Regional Director, Karen Candilosas, who was shot and killed on December 7, 2024, in Barangay Cagangohan, Panabo City, Davao del Norte.
In a statement on December 8, Bfar-Davao expressed profound sadness over the loss, describing it as an irreplaceable void for both the organization and her loved ones.
“This tragic loss has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts and BFAR, as an organization. We strongly condemn the circumstances surrounding her death and stand in solidarity with her family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” Bfar-Davao said in their statement on Sunday, December 8, 2024.
The office expressed deep sadness over the sudden death of Karen Candilosas, the assistant regional director of Bfar. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the pursuit of justice, noting that her significant contributions to the fisheries sector and the organization would be remembered.
Meanwhile, the Panabo City Information Office (CIO) expressed determination to bring those responsible for Candilosas' death to justice and confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway. They are confident that the perpetrators will be identified and held accountable for their actions.
“We ask for patience and support as we navigate this challenging time, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Ms. Candilosas,” Panabo CIO said on December 7, 2024.
The office emphasized that the loss of Candilosas would impact not only her family but also the fisheries community, as she was a dedicated public servant who made significant contributions to the fishing industry in the Davao Region.
To recap, Candilosas was tragically shot and killed at around 10:30 a.m. on December 7 while sitting in her parked car. An unidentified armed assailant fired multiple shots, leading to her death. RGP
