THE City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has raised the Blue Alert status in Davao City in preparation for the Kadayawan Festival 2025.
The alert level was elevated as the office activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC), citing the need for heightened emergency preparedness amid increased foot traffic and potential risks such as civil disturbances and natural hazards.
“With the alert status in place, emergency resources will be strategically deployed to ensure a safe and secure celebration,” the CDRRMO said in a statement on Tuesday, August 5.
The Blue Alert status will remain in effect throughout the Kadayawan Festival, from August 7 to 31, as adopted by the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Operations Center (DCDRRMOC).
This move aligns with SP Resolution No. 02395-24, which states that emergency conditions and alert levels may be declared when potential threats to life and property arise, requiring coordination with relevant government agencies for support.
The Kadayawan Festival, Davao City’s annual celebration of culture and bountiful harvest, will kick off with the Kadayawan 2025 Misa Pasasalamat at San Pedro Cathedral on August 7, followed by the Pag-Abli sa Kadayawan on August 8 at the Kadayawan Tribal Village, Magsaysay Park.
