THE Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) launched The Governors Speak, a book series featuring select speeches of Philippine central bank governors, at its head office in Manila on July 3, 2025.

The Governors Speak offers a unique perspective on the evolution of central banking in the Philippines through the words of its past and present leaders. The series provides insights into the BSP’s changing role during pivotal moments in the nation’s economic history.

“The book reminds us that central banking is more than just interest rates and macroeconomic models. It’s also about clear, credible, and timely communication,” BSP Governor Eli M. Remolona Jr. said in his message.

The series is divided into three volumes:

  • Volume I – Early Governance and Pioneering Efforts (1949–1993): Speeches of the seven Governors of the Central Bank of the Philippines

  • Volume II – Transformative Leadership (1993–2017): Speeches of the first four BSP Governors

  • Volume III – Current Initiatives and Forward-Thinking (2017–present): Speeches of BSP Governors from 2017 onward

The launch was among the highlights of the BSP’s 32nd anniversary celebration. The BSP was established on July 3, 1993.

Former central bank governors Jose L. Cuisia Jr., Amando M. Tetangco Jr., and Benjamin E. Diokno, along with key BSP officials and stakeholders, attended the event. PR
