THE Bureau of Customs - Port of Davao (BOC-Davao) reported a P2.7 billion surplus since the beginning of the year, according to District Collector Atty. Erastus Austria on August 5, 2022.

Austria said this exceeded the 2021 annual revenue surplus of P1.8 billion in just the first half of the Fiscal Year 2022.

“For this year, wala’y bulan nga wala nato na-meet atong assigned target bisan pa ginataasan ang target sa Port of Davao every year (there hasn’t been a month that we did not meet our assigned target even though we are increasing it every year),” Austria said during the Kapihan sa PIA media forum at NCCC Mall Victoria Plaza.

BOC-Davao has posted a surplus from their assigned revenue targets for every month so far, wherein the July 2022 collection has the highest surplus of P1.19 billion. It is 35.55 percent higher than the assigned target of P3.35 billion.

The June revenue collection followed, with a 14.35 percent higher revenue of P3.80 billion from the assigned target of P3.32 billion, creating a surplus of P476.66 million.

In April, the P3.68 billion revenue is 11.46 percent higher than the assigned target of P3.30 billion, posting a surplus of P378.15 million. While in February, P3.49 billion was collected which was 9.81 percent higher than the P3.01 billion target, resulting in a surplus of P295.09 million.

In May, there was a P243.132 million surplus of its P3.35 billion collection. The revenue collected for this month was 7.26 higher than its assigned target of P273.132 million.

The collected revenue for the months of January and March exceeded not more than four percent of their assigned targets.

The January collection of P3.30 billion is 2.22 percent higher than the target of P3.23 billion, leaving a surplus of P71.60 million, while in March, the P3.49 billion collection was 3.60 percent higher than the P3.37 billion target, posting a surplus of P121.22 million.

According to Austria, the BOC-Davao is confident that it will surpass the assigned revenue target for the Fiscal Year 2022.

“Since 2016, the target for Port of Davao was only P11 billion. This year our target is P40 billion and we are confident we will surpass this assigned target,” he said. ICM
