Crop-specific fertilizers for better yield

AGRITUCULTURAL farmers are encouraged to use crop-specific fertilizers in order to increase productivity yield than the conventional fertilizers.

Altas Fertilizer Corporation business representative Jevin Venoza said different crops also has different needs in terms of growth and production.

“Sauna man gud kung unsa lang ang ma-andan sa mga farmers mao lang pud ang ginamit. Pero sa among researches nigawas lahi-lahi pud ang kinahanglan sa kada crop (Before, our farmers would just resort with the fertilizers they are used to. But our researches would show that each crop has different needs),” Venoza said.

Venoza added that for the Mindanao agriculture setting, Atlas Corporation has provided coconut farmers the right fertilizer.

“Pareho aning coconut, nakita sa amoang study with Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) nga maayo haluan og Boron nga component ang fertilizer para mas daghan iyang yield (Like for this coconut, we saw with our study with PCA that it is good to have Boron component mixed as fertilizer to increase yield),” Venoza said.

Atlas Fertilizer Corporation also offers urea-based fertilizer in growing rice.

“Ang nakanindot ani pud nga urea-based namo nga fertilizer kay slow-release siya so dugay ang epekto nga mahatag niya sa tanom (The beauty of this urea-based fertilizer is that it’s slow-release which means the effect to the plant is longer),” Venoza added.

Venoza added with these options in the market, farmers can now have many means in increasing yield.

The fertilizers are sold by 50-kilogram sacks and are worth P1,250–P1,400 per sack.
