Data analytics will benefit health sector

DATA analytics, as a medium in gathering necessary health information, will help in the development of the Philippine National Health Information Exchange, a company executive said.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Solutions and Geo Expansions and Accent Micro Technology, Inc. (AMTI) general manager Josefino Paloma said the country needs a national health record system in organizing all necessary health information.

“This would also help transactions to become easier and paperless once patients and even doctors would like to access necessary information,” Paloma said on Monday, October 22, during the Livex Innovation Summit 2018 at Marco Polo Hotel, Davao City.

Paloma added they are working closely with ICT experts in using the best technological platforms in offering health record services.

“AMTI offers Electronic Medical Record (EMR), which allows doctors to better manage patient care, and which also allows patients to better understand their health conditions and options in treating their diagnosis,” Paloma said.

He also said the EMR does not only end in keeping records alongside with doctors and patients. The Universal EMR is also designed to serve the needs of patients, providers and payers in their billing transactions, pharmaceutical purchases, and even access to health insurances.

Kristina Denoga, analytics consultant of SAS Technologies, supported the need for the use of analytics in keeping track of health records.

“We must also look on the possibility in partnering with organizations in gathering these data. Typically, it depends on what analytical services they would like to avail, and the cost will also range from that,” Denoga said.

Denoga added they have already partnered with some hospitals in Davao City that are eyeing the use of data analytics for their records.
