THE Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) has released guidelines for the operations of businesses in the city amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) health crisis.

In the DCCCII Covid-19 Advisory 1, DCCCI president John Carlo B. Tria urged businesses to prepare a staffing procedure for a flexible work plan and work from home plan, as well as virtual meetings and discussions.

For public transportation and cargo deliveries, he appealed to the owners to practice safe cargo practices.

"We would like to appeal to owners to observe precautions and instruct clients to do the unloading to prevent exposure to their drivers and delivery personnel, who we suggest must remain in the vehicle to prevent transmission," he said.

Businesses, although they are not prevented from opening their stores, are also encouraged to engage in online and electronic commerce such as sell, trade, payments, and fund transfers.

"This does not only make it simple but also protects your staff from possibly contaminated cash," Tria said.

He also enjoined businesses to ensure that they are engaging in legitimate product and food delivery services in their deliveries.

The services must possess necessary permits such as Private Express and/or Messengerial Delivery Service (Pemedes) permit from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and domestic shippers accreditation from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

"You may seek them through social media and contact them directly and ask for these credentials," he said.

The restaurants and food establishments were also asked to adhere to food safety standards and procedures implemented by the city which include sterilizing utensils for use and wearing of personal protective equipment such as masks.

Tria said the guidelines are in line with the Executive Order 10 or the declaration of Community Quarantine in Davao City issued by the City Government of Davao.
