THE first Farm Tourism Convergence in Davao Region on October 17 to 18, 2018 seeks to address the issue on the accreditation of farm tourism sites in region in a bid to regularize the operations of these sites, a business leader said.

Davao Farm Tourism Association (Dafta) president Val Turtur said by accrediting these farm tourism sites, tourists will be able to feel secure as to where they are going or spend their money.

“That’s why we are having this. Ang isa sa mga requirements is kay kailangan my business permit ang farm mo. So pag may farm kailangan rin na may title yung property. Kung hindi sila ma-accredit, hindi rin sila masasama sa pagpromote as farm tourism site (Among the requirements for farm tourism sites is the farm must have a business permit and the property has a title. If they don’t get accredited, they won’t be promoted as a farm tourism site),” Turtur said on Monday, October 15, 2018 during Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao.

Turtur added that if farm tourism sites will secure the needed permits, it will also help visitors to enjoy the farm sites.

“Kung mubisita ang tao naa pud siyay dapat ma-experience. Kung pwede gani unta naay gamay nga restaurant, para kung gusto sila mu-experience ug mukaon sa imong produkto diha na mismo sa farm (If people visit, they should experience something. If it would be possible then, one should have a small restaurant so that if they want to eat farm produce they can have it there),” Turtur said.

Meanwhile, he added the concerns on how to profit more through farm tourism will also be one of the highlights during the convergence.

“I hope this Farm Tourism Convergence will help Dabawenyos to be inspired to value-add their farms by creating it as a tourist destination which will eventually help them have additional income,” Turtur said.
