INFORMATION technology and business process management (IT-BPM) companies are still hesitant to enter Davao City due to the martial law in Mindanao.
"We hope that the whole martial law issuance can be lifted. If we can do then it will bring in locators to consider again Davao City," Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Davao president Samuel Matunog said during Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, August 20, at SM City Davao.
Matunog said the peace and order in the city can already be considered conducive and even potential for business operations. He said this can be a good business opportunity for outsourcing companies in the city.
Matunog also said there are many factors that the Davao business industry must consider in order to create an inviting business atmosphere for the BPM-ICT industry in the city.
"Across in the industry what we must also do is improve the talent development," Matunog said.
In this way, he added, investors can assure the best quality of labor service from the workers in the city.
Matunog also said that next year, representatives from ICT-Davao will be flying to northeast China to observe how they are training Chinese to become native speakers in Japanese, English, and Spanish.
"If they can do it, then, why can't we?" Matunog said.
Matunog said ICT-Davao is also exploring on the possibility of setting up a language-training facility in the city in order to invite more business players in the city.
Matunog said the IT-BPM sector must also consider in venturing in product development sector as there is a high market needed to be met.
With all these possibilities, Matunog said there can be a whole lot more potentials seen to unfold once the martial law is lifted.
