The newly-enacted Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) and the current peace situation of the island will be part of the major topics to be discussed at the Mindanao Business Conference (Minbizcon) on September 13 to 15, 2018 in Tagum City.

Arturo Milan, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. president, pointed out the importance of having a wide understanding and knowledge of the peace process that is happening in Mindanao in order to “situate and contextualize” business developments for the island.

“We feel that with the development that we have in Mindanao, kinahanglan nato ang panaghi-usa arun sa kalamboan sa Mindanao ug para mas masabtan nato kung unsay angay pang mga lakang para sa masiguro pud ang paglambo sa mga negosyo nga naa dinhia (we need to be united for the progress of Mindanao and for us to understand what are the steps needed to ensure the growth of businesses here),” Milan said on Monday, August 27, 2018, during the Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao.

He said there would be three parts in the first session of the business conference which will talk about “Building Peace.”

“One is secretary Alonto will be talking about the shift of federalism and how it will affect local business in the island,” Milan said.

The next part of the session, Milan said, will discuss about the newly enacted Bangsamoro Organic Law.

“And for the third part of the session, we will be having secretary (Jesus) Dureza to talk about peace initiatives in Mindanao,” Milan said.

He added that these talks regarding peace are focal for business owners to understand in order to gear their businesses for the holistic development of Mindanao.
