THE Davao City Agriculture Office (CAO) has requested for funds to construct in Marfori Heights the proposed Davao City Organic Center and complete this by the last quarter of 2018.
"Right now, the plan for organic center in Marfori Heights is still in the process for the request of the budget since we have submitted already then it was returned to us which means we still have to finalize the plans," CAO head Leo Brian Leuterio said in vernacular during a phone interview on Thursday, May 10.
The architectural design of the 600-square meter (sqm) organic center in Marfori Heights is still being finalized by MAO Escamis in Talomo District.
He said they were completing the regulatory process.
"We first submit the final design and it will be checked by the City Engineering Office. If found out that there are lacking parts, it will be corrected again until it will be finalized. So it really takes time. If ever it (the plan) will be finished by June or July, we will be able to submit the final budget and then that's the time to get suppliers for the center," Leuterio said.
The amenities for the organic center will be based on a homestead design. Leuterio added that this organic center does not focus on the business aspect instead it is targeted to be a learning site for every Dabawenyo to learn more about organic farming.
"What the people need right now is the principle of modeling, we will show to them through our organic centers how can we do it and how it is done. For instance, if there are people who wanted to learn how to make an organic pesticide, we will show to them how to do it and how it is done," he said. (Kent Warren H. Fugoso, FSUU Intern)
