THE prices of selected meat products remained stable based on the price monitoring watch conducted by SunStar Davao on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at the Bankerohan Public Market.
The price of pork ribs remained stable at P190 per kilogram (kg) on most of the stalls in the market and the price of the pork belly also remained stable at P230/kg due to the market having a fixed retail price for pork which was effective since May 28, 2018.
The price of beef products also remained stable this week with beef ribs at P220/kg to P250/kg; beef kaldereta cuts at P290/kg to P300/kg; beef fillet at P290/kg to P350/kg.
The price of chicken products remain stable, with whole chicken at P140/kg to P145/kg; chicken wings at P140/kg to P145/kg; chicken breasts at P140/kg to P145/kg; and chicken drumstick at P150/kg to P155/kg.
Chicken eggs are priced differently depending on the size at P165 to P195 per tray.
One vendor said the difference in pricing between vendors is due to a lack of supply from their suppliers, which lead to higher prices in some vendors.
For selected seafood products, prices remained stable with bangus at P140/kg to P160/kg; the crabs at P500/kg to P850/kg depending on the size of the product; tuna panga at P300/kg to P350/kg; small shrimps at P180/kg to P280/kg; and large shrimps at P260/kg to P380/kg;. However, the price of tuna belly decreased to P380/kg to P420/kg this week from last week's P420/kg to P450/kg.
The price of the matambaka also dropped to P100/kg to P160/kg from P180/kg to P200/kg last week.
The prices of squid, small and large, have dropped. Small-sized squid is now at P110/kg to P120/kg from P120/kg to P150/kg while large-sized squid is at P130/kg to P140/kg from P140/kg to P160/kg.
According to one vendor the prices for the squid were affected due to the weather conditions last week.
Meanwhile, the prices of selected meat products and some seafood products in Agdao Public Market also remained stable.
Pork ribs are at P180 per kilogram (kg) and pork belly at P240/kg. Beef ribs are at P240/kg; beef caldereta at P340/kg; and beef fillet at P380/kg.
Meanwhile, for chicken meat, price for dressed chicken is at P150; wings at P150/kg; breasts at P150/kg; and drumstick at P170/kg.
Prices for seafood also remained stable with bangus at P150/kg; matambaka at P200/kg; lapu-lapu at P450/kg; shrimps (small) at P240/kg; shrimps (large) at P320/kg; squid (small) at P120/kg; and squid (large) at P130/kg.
