Townships, helping spread development in Davao

THE advent of real estate townships in Davao City is helping spread the economic development throughout the city, said Davao City Investment and Promotions Center (DCIPC) official.

Over the years, the real estate in the city has developed according to what’s fitting with the choices of the residents and the clients.

Starting with horizontal subdivision houses to residential condominium buildings, and now there are also townships where almost all the commercial and residential needs of the residents and non-residents can be found. Indeed residential real estate housing in the city has developed towards the convenience and the preference of the residents.

As for the part of DCIPC, they have seen this trend becoming more and more apparent for the past two to three years as more and more townships are being developed in the city.

“We welcome this type of investment – all-in services in one area, making it more convenient for those living or working in that community. Also, there are quite a few that are being developed in areas outside of the downtown area – spreading the economic development, decongesting traffic, incorporating green spaces are just some of the benefits. So definitely, the city welcomes these township developments,” said DCIPC head Lemuel Ortonio.

As these townships are located in different corners of the city, Ortonio said it scatters the economic development in other parts of the city as well, and not just in the city proper.

Among the current townships in the city include Davao Park District, an 11-hectare property along S.P. Dakudao loop, Lanang, Davao City. The area used to be the Lanang Golf and Country Club. Davao Park District is a P15-billion property that targets to encompass office towers, residential condominium buildings, hospital, lifestyle mall, commercial and retail strips, and a school.

Ciudades Business Park is a 200-hectare property development in Mandug, Davao City that looks forward to providing its residents with office spaces, mall, and a school aside from its residential component.

Azuela Cove is a P20-billion development located near the intersection of J.P. Laurel and R. Castillo. Its initial locators include commercial and restaurant strips, The Tent – an events place where concerts had already been held, residential condominium, a hospital, and a sports hub.

The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) and Cebu Landmasters, Inc. (CLI) is also set to develop a university township, dubbed as the LPU Town Center in Buhangin. The development will house the LPU-Davao campus, commercial components, a hotel, and residential towers by CLI.
