THE Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) has announced that they are fully prepared to celebrate Araw ng Davao 2025, with preparations in full swing for the city's highly anticipated founding anniversary festivities.

The annual event, which will take place from March 1 to 16, marks the founding of Davao as a city and promises to be a grand showcase of its rich cultural heritage, vibrant history, and dynamic future.

“We are all set. All the events are ready. Some of the activities have been tweaked to give them a fresh feel,” said CTOO officer-in-charge Jennifer Romero in an ambush interview during the celebration of Emperor Naruhito's 65th birthday on February 13, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center.

Romero also said the 2025 Mutya ng Dabaw is shaping up to be an exciting highlight of the celebrations, with the pageant set to feature higher prices than ever before in its history.

"We’ve increased the [cash] prize this year to make it even more prestigious and competitive," Romero said, in a mixed language.

On February 11, the City Government of Davao revealed the official logo for Araw ng Davao, which was shared on the event’s official Facebook page. The design prominently features a soaring blue eagle alongside iconic landmarks of the city, such as the Davao City Hall, Mt. Apo, and the Monument of Peace and Unity.

As Davao celebrates its 88th anniversary, the logo captures the city’s shared history, thriving present, and bright future.

The lineup of activities includes the Misa ng Pasasalamat, Pasiugdang Pagsaulog, Hulagway sa Araw ng Dabaw, Araw ng Davao Fair, Konsierto sa Dabawenyo, Parada Dabawenyo, the Conferment of the Datu Bago Awards, among other exciting events.

In a statement, Romero reminded the people of Davao of the importance of unity that this celebration embodies.

“Celebrating 88 years of strength and unity—One Davao, standing strong. Together, we honor the spirit that makes our city resilient. Let’s continue to rise together, united in purpose and celebrate this 88thArawNgDabaw!” her statement read.

The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) has begun preparations for the upcoming Araw ng Davao celebration, with PSSO Head Angel Sumagaysay confirming that meetings have been held to ensure the safety of the events.

Sumagaysay also noted that they are organizing the participation of uniformed units for the parade and finalizing the order of procession. While preparations are underway, he revealed that the exact number of personnel to be deployed is yet to be determined. DEF
