THE Department of Agriculture–Davao Region (DA-Davao) distributed approximately P5.9 million worth of agricultural inputs to farmers in Davao del Norte who were affected by the recent Tropical Low-Pressure Area (TLPA) and Shear Line weather disturbances.

The assistance package included P4.5 million worth of inorganic fertilizers, P1.2 million worth of hybrid yellow corn seeds, and P210,750 worth of lowland vegetable seeds.

In a Facebook post on June 5, 2025, DA-Davao said the distribution took place at the Kapalong Gym in Maniki, Kapalong, in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Kapalong and the Provincial Agriculturist Office (PAGRO) of Davao del Norte.

Marie Ann Constantino, DA-Davao Regional Technical Director for Operations, assured beneficiaries that the department is working closely with LGUs to fast-track aid delivery and help farmers recover and rehabilitate their farms.

The agricultural assistance came from the 2024 Quick Response Fund (QRF), which is allocated for emergency support following calamities. The QRF covers relief, rehabilitation, and other urgent services for affected areas.

Previously, the Office of Civil Defense–Davao Region (OCD-Davao) reported that Davao del Norte was among the provinces impacted by the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). The weather disturbance caused damage to roads, bridges, and other infrastructure.

To recall, a landslide was reported by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Mawab on the evening of December 18, 2024, in Km 61, Pandapan, Tagum, due to heavy rains from the LPA and Shear Line. RGP
