DESPITE a heavy downpour, Duaw Davao 2025 officially opened on June 5 at Rizal Park, San Pedro Street, in Davao City.
The rain didn’t dampen the spirit of the Dabawenyos, who showed up in full force to witness the launch of the city’s flagship seasonal celebration. The opening program featured vibrant performances from local artists, setting the tone for a month-long festivity.
One of the highlights of the opening was the presentation of the 20 candidates for Reyna Dabawenya 2025. The contenders will compete in the preliminary rounds on June 16, leading up to the coronation night on June 20.
Speaking on behalf of Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, Councilor Alberto Ungab underscored the significance of Duaw Davao as a symbol of the Dabawenyo spirit.
“We invite everybody to go out and take part in the various events lined up for Duaw Davao from June 5 to 29, 2025,” he said.
He shared that Duaw Davao, first launched in 2024, was created not only to celebrate Davao’s rich culture and heritage but also to highlight its thriving tourism industry, flourishing arts scene, resilient communities, and natural attractions.
“May we all enjoy this jam-packed month of June, filled with exciting events and joyous activities for all,” he said.
