SEVERAL Dabawenyos flocked to Rizal Park in Davao City for a prayer vigil for the 100th day of former President Rodrigo Duterte (FPRRD) in The Hague, Netherlands.
The supporters, led by Atty. Martin Delgra III lit candles in support of FPRRD and recited a manifesto of support and sovereignty. In the manifesto, they reiterated their support for FPRRD and their call that no Filipino should be tried by foreign powers.
"We call on all Filipinos, regardless of political color, to reflect on what is right, what is just, and what truly serves the interests of our nation. Let this moment inspire a deeper unity among us, rooted in respect for our laws, our dignity, and our shared history," they said.
Meanwhile, First District Representative Paolo "Pulong" Duterte, in his message, said that the pain is "immeasurable" and that as a Filipino, this "injustice is unbearable."
He said that his father stood up against the enemies of the country, but he is now alone, away from his home.
"He is not a criminal. He is a man who gave his life to serve this nation, who walked the most difficult paths so that we may live in peace, free from fear, and with dignity," he said.
He then asked Filipinos in the country and those around the world not to forget FPRRD; instead, to remember him not just as a leader, but as a man, a father, a friend, and a patriot.
He urged them to pray for FPRRD’s strength, health, and freedom.
Pulong also believed that the Filipino people would not abandon FPRRD, since he fought for them.
FPRRD was brought to The Hague in the Netherlands on March 11, 2025, to face charges of alleged crimes against humanity committed during his presidency.
Despite his detention, FPRRD was proclaimed mayor of Davao City on May 13, 2025, earning 662,630 votes and defeating Karlo Nograles and Bishop Rod Cubos, in his return to local politics. RGP
