DAVAO City is ready to kick off the much-awaited Duaw Davao 2025, a month-long summer festival, on June 5.

Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) head Angel Sumagaysay confirmed that preparations for the grand opening are fully complete.

To manage the expected large crowds, over 7,000 security personnel will be deployed across key festival venues. This team includes members from the Davao City Police Office, Task Force Davao, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Civil Security Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency XI.

High-traffic areas such as Rizal Park, San Pedro Square, and the Davao City Recreational Gym will receive special attention.

Sumagaysay said that security efforts will focus on major events likely to draw the biggest crowds, including the opening program, city-wide parade, and two large concerts. Ensuring public safety during these highlights is a top priority to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The Duaw Davao Festival is also a key driver of the city’s economic and tourism growth. Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte described the event as a strategic investment to boost local business and showcase Davao to a wider audience.

Jennifer Romero, officer-in-charge of the Davao City Tourism Operations Office, said the festival aims to attract more visitors and support local enterprises through engaging in tourism-focused activities.

The festival lineup features signature events like Davao Turismo, Fiesta sa San Pedro, Pride Month celebrations, and various lifestyle and leisure activities. These events highlight Davao’s rich culture, creative arts, and vibrant food scene, offering something for every visitor.

With preparations complete and a strong security plan in place, Sumagaysay said Duaw Davao 2025 promises to be a lively and memorable celebration of the city’s best.

For schedules and updates, the public is encouraged to visit the official Duaw Davao website or follow its social media pages. DEF
