STAKEHOLDERS of the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro convened to prepare for the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections.
Lawyer Jennifer P. Ancla, the provincial election officer of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), said the vital role of stakeholders and security forces as the elections draw near. She also highlighted the unpredictability of the political climate in the province and the country.
“The political climate in our country, more so in our province, is innately unpredictable, let us remain fair, impartial, and transparent in the performance of our duties for peace and responsibility,” she said.
She also expressed gratitude to security forces, saying, “To our counterparts from the PNP, AFP, Philippine Army, PCG, we are always thankful for your service in protecting our country and ensuring the security of our citizens.”
PCol. Antonio D. Alberio Jr., provincial director of the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office, affirmed that the province remains one of the most peaceful and secure in the region, according to the latest report from the Philippine National Police (PNP), even with the election period approaching.
The Provincial Joint Security Control Center and the Municipal Joint Security Control Centers reconvened on January 10, 2025, at Dimalupig Hall in the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office.
The event, led by Comelec, included representatives from the Davao de Oro Provincial Police Office, the 1001st Infantry Brigade, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), municipal election officers, chiefs of police, battalion commanders, and other security sector leaders.
Under Comelec Resolution No. 10999, the election period is from January 12 to June 11, 2025. During this time, a nationwide gun ban will be enforced, with exemptions for safety and security personnel, as well as specific professionals such as prosecutors and judges.
The campaign period for senatorial and party-list candidates runs from February 11 to May 10, 2025. Local candidates can campaign from March 28 to May 10, 2025. RGP
