IN A move to improve patient comfort and hospital services, Governor Raul “Rolly” Mabanglo and First District Representative Maricar Zamora-Mabanglo turned over several wall-mounted electric fans and wheelchairs to the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital (DDOPH) in Montevista.

The donation, composed of 85 wall fans worth P327,250 and five wheelchairs, was formally turned over to the hospital through a ceremonial signing of the deed of donation on July 4 between Gov. Mabanglo and Chief of Hospital Dr. Ferdinand Anthony M. Soberano.

The move came after the couple’s recent province-wide hospital visits, where they inspected the real conditions of both patients and medical facilities.

During their visit to DDOPH Montevista, the couple was visibly concerned upon witnessing patients and their watchers struggling with the intense heat in overcrowded wards which lacked proper ventilation.

Gov. Mabanglo, in his address during the hospital’s first convocation, explained that the donation was made using personal funds, citing the slow bureaucratic process of government procurement. He stressed the need for swift action in situations directly affecting public health and patient comfort.

He pointed out that while not all needs can be met immediately, certain urgent concerns must be addressed without delay.

“We know the government has its processes, and these take time. That’s why, with the help of my family, we decided to step in and donate on our own,” he said in the vernacular.

The donated wall fans are expected to significantly improve air circulation and ease the humidity inside the hospital wards, contributing to a more comfortable and healing environment for patients.

The additional wheelchairs will also allow for faster and more efficient mobility of patients, especially those in need of immediate care or transfer.

Mabanglo assured that while systemic reforms take time, their administration will not hesitate to find immediate and practical solutions where needed.

The donation symbolizes more than just an act of generosity; it marks the beginning of a new chapter in Davao de Oro's leadership. DEF
