DAVAO Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) has announced a series of power interruptions on April 9 and 10, 2025, as part of maintenance and system upgrades.

The interruptions will affect various areas in Davao City and are necessary to facilitate work on the Underground Distribution System (UDS) and preventive maintenance at the Bangkal Substation.

April 9: Power interruptions for line works and maintenance

Davao Light will carry out line works along R. Magsaysay Avenue for the UDS project, requiring a temporary transfer of loads to a nearby substation. The transfer will take around 45 minutes, between 5 and 6 a.m., and power will be restored in a 45-minute window between 8 and 9 a.m. on the same day.

Affected areas include Mindanao Christian Bookstore (MCBS) on Acacia Street to Roxas Avenue, Ateneo de Davao University, Freedom Park, City Triangle, and the Philippine Red Cross.

Additionally, a three-hour power interruption will affect the City Triangle area from 5 to 8 a.m. on the same day.

April 9 to 10: Maintenance works at Bangkal substation and Ulas viaduct

This second round of interruptions is necessary for preventive maintenance at the Bangkal Substation and line works from Ulas Viaduct to San Pedro College.

The first load transfer will occur between 12 and 1 a.m. on April 9, with loads returning to their normal setup between 9 and 10 a.m. on the same day.

Affected areas for this round of work include McArthur Highway in Bangkal (Doc Alternatibo to Jollibee Puan), Bambu Estate along Davao-Bukidnon Road, and Catalunan Pequeno.

An eight-hour power interruption will also affect customers along the Ulas Flyover to San Pedro College-Basic Education Department in Upper Ulas, from 1 to 9 a.m. on April 9.

Additionally, another brief load transfer will take place on Thursday, April 10, between 12 midnight and 1 a.m., affecting the same areas as the previous day.

Meanwhile, customers from Bago Aplaya (near J15 Japan Surplus & Mini Grocery) and surrounding areas in Mintal, as well as those served by the Davao City Water District – Talomo Pump, will also experience power disruptions during these maintenance activities.

Davao Light has apologized for any inconvenience caused by the scheduled interruptions. The company assures that every effort will be made to restore power within the designated timeframes, though some delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances.
