DAVAO Region has reported zero election-related violence or harassment, maintaining a green category status from the Commission on Elections, Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao) spokesperson Police Major Catherine Dela Rey revealed, as police deployment for the May 12, 2025, election intensifies across polling centers.
PRO-Davao has already deployed 7,580 personnel to secure 2,936 polling centers region-wide, with a minimum of two police officers per center. This means that the PRO-Davao is nearly 100 percent ready for the coming elections.
Dela Rey said that the police officers are on standby, guarding the automated counting machines (ACMs) from transport to counting, and will only be pulled out once the ACMs are retrieved.
"Kadtong mga na-deploy na didto, dili na to sila pwede muoli. Standby na to sila sa mga eskwelahan kay dili man gud pwede biyaan ang ACM nga walay magbantay (Those who are deployed there can no longer go home. They are on standby at the schools because the ACMs should be left unguarded)," Dela Rey said.
Meanwhile, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon reported 98 percent readiness, with 2,007 deployed personnel, including 534 PNP officers, securing 266 polling centers. As of May 7, Tuazon confirmed no areas of concern or election-related incidents reported in the city, thus, they are a peaceful election.
The liquor ban for the election will take effect on May 10 to maintain order.
The absence of election-related incidents across the region corresponds with Comelec’s green category designation, indicating a low risk of violence or disruption.
Dela Rey emphasized that PRO-Davao remains vigilant, with deployed personnel stationed at schools to safeguard the voting process.
