Davao museum extends operating hours

THE National Museum of the Philippines-Davao (NMP-Davao) said that it would extend operating hours in celebration of the Kadayawan Festival. 

In a Facebook post, the NMP-Davao said that they would extend their operations on August 15 to 16, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to give more time to the local and foreign tourists to visit the museum. The museum regularly operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

"Celebrate Kadayawan Festival through the rich heritage of Mindanao with us. Admission is free. Simply present one valid ID upon entry. This is good for the entire group, family, or pair," NMP-Davao said on Friday, August 15, 2025. 

The museum offers group tours, where visitors can learn about the artifacts and artworks. For group tours, the visitors are required to make reservations online through the museum's official email. 

NMP-Davao then reminded the visitors to protect the exhibits by not bringing beverages, water containers, or tumblers into the museum to prevent potential damage to the artificats and artifacts. Mini-fans are also prohibited, as the museum maintains strict temperature and humidity control to preserve its collections. 

The first to fourth floors house the NMP-Davao exhibits, while the fifth floor has been designated for Museo Dabawenyo. 

Earlier, the NMP-Davao has recorded a total of 181,026 visitors from January to June 2025. Of that number, 98.57 percent, or 178,429, were local visitors, and 1.43 percent, or 2,597, were foreigners. 

Most of the visitors were adults comprising of 45.1 percent or 81,728, followed by 23.8 percent or 43,140 college students, 8.0 percent or 14,476 were senior high school students, 7.8 percent or 14,107 were elementary pupils, 6.6 percent or 11,923 were junior high school students, 5.1 percent or 9,313 were toddlers or preschoolers, and 3.5 percent or 6,339 were senior citizens. 

NMP-Davao is the fourth national museum in Mindanao and is recognized as the largest in the region. It is located at People's Park Compound, J. Palma Gil St., Barangay 4A Poblacion District, Davao City. RGP
