IVO Nikolai de Castro Enot of Davao City brought home a silver medal and a bronze for the Philippines at the 46th Southeast Asian Aquatics Age Group Championships 2024, held at Assumption University in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 18-year-old Ateneo de Manila University freshman clinched the silver in the boys' 50m backstroke and the bronze in the 100m backstroke.
In a Messenger interview with SunStar Davao, Enot said, "Overall, it was a superb experience! After five years of competing in the SEA-Age, I can truly say, this is one of the best since I broke my times in 50m and 100m backstroke events and also my 100m freestyle during the relay."
The Bangkok competition was particularly special for Enot, as it marked his final appearance at the SEA Aquatics Age Group Championships. Due to the age restriction of 18 and below, he will be ineligible to compete next year.
After competing in 12 events this year, Enot is looking forward to some rest, though he still has school commitments to fulfill.
Enot added, "I still have more goals ahead, especially the SEA GAMES next year, I'm also eyeing that. This SEA Age will be an eye-opener for me in the next journey."
Enot also achieved remarkable success at the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (Uaap), securing six gold medals in the 50m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 4x50m medley relay, and 4x100m medley relay events. MLSA
