RESIDENTS of the Davao Region are advised to brace for cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms, as the easterlies continue to influence the area.

In a 24-hour weather advisory issued on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the easterlies, warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, will maintain their influence in several parts of Mindanao, resulting in rainy weather conditions.

This will also affect the Northern Mindanao and Caraga Region.

These conditions may lead to flash floods or landslides in areas prone to heavy rainfall, especially in mountainous and low-lying regions.

Pagasa advises the public to stay updated on the latest weather advisories and to take necessary precautions against possible disruptions caused by the rains and thunderstorms.

The easterlies are expected to persist over the coming days, thus residents are advised to be prepared for similar weather patterns throughout the week.

The shear line is also expected to bring cloudy skies, light to moderate rain, and possible thunderstorms in the Visayas and the eastern section of Southern Luzon. Areas along the eastern coasts of these regions may experience heavier rain due to the influence of the shear line.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon, locally known as the Amihan, will affect the rest of Luzon, particularly in the northern and central parts which will result in partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light rain in some areas, particularly in the Bicol Region, Cagayan Valley, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.
