THE City Government of Davao has announced that a Simulation Exercise (Simex) will be conducted anytime this week. The exercise is designed to test and improve the city's emergency response systems. It will involve the local government unit (LGU), first responders, and other concerned agencies to ensure readiness in case of a real emergency.
The locations for the Simex will remain undisclosed to the public to avoid panic and mass hysteria, according to the city's official Facebook page posted on February 28, 2025.
“Laoman sa publiko nga mahimong guot ang dagan sa trapiko ug madelatar ang byahe nianang adlawa. Busa, ginahangyo sa tanang Dabawenyo ang pagsabot ug pag-cooperate sa maong aktibidad nga makatabang sab sa pagsiguro sa seguridad sa siyudad (The public should expect heavy traffic and possible travel delays that day. Therefore, all Dabawenyos are urged to understand and cooperate in this activity, which will also help ensure the city’s security),” the reminder said.
This exercise is part of the city’s Culture of Security campaign “May Nakita, Dapat Magsalita,” based on Executive Order (EO) 62, Series of 2021, adopting the Integrated Response on Terrorism Plan (Usahay II) of TF Davao and activating the Joint Security Forces Cluster in the event of terror attacks.
The Public Safety and Security Office under the City Mayor's Office, in coordination with Task Force Davao, will lead the exercise aimed at replicating near-real scenarios.
In January, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said they would conduct additional training and Simex throughout the year.
Lyndon Ancajas, acting head of the CDRRMO Training Division, informed the City Information Office that Dabawenyos should expect more training sessions this year.
Over the past two years, the CDRRMO conducted 511 training sessions and exercises. In 2024 alone, 303 training sessions were held, surpassing the 208 conducted in 2023. Additionally, over 100 drills were completed in 2024.
Ancajas explained that these training programs cover various aspects of preventive and protective measures, preparedness, as well as rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations. The training is intended for a wide range of communities, including workplaces, schools, private organizations, and the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (BDRRMC). DEF
