

THE Davao City National High School (DCNHS) recently hosted educators from Digos City National High School for a benchmarking activity showcasing its Innovation Hub, a premier facility for robotics education.
Led by Lemuel Espinar, Robotics Club Adviser, with Mandy Akemi Lagare, the club’s president, and Karsh Sofia Malobago, its vice president, the event featured hands-on demonstrations of the obstacle-detector, line-tracing, and remote-controlled robots, emphasizing the hub's role in enhancing student learning through technology.
The Innovation Hub integrates robotics training and workshops with the Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs. It offers tools such as a 3D printer for prototyping, robot kits for programming, and a Virtual Reality (VR) set for immersive learning, fostering problem-solving and engineering skills.
Espinar shared that the main focus of the Innovation Hub showcase was to demonstrate how advanced technologies can enhance student learning and innovation. He explained the Innovation Hub serves as a dedicated space where students can explore and engage with cutting-edge technology tools in a stimulating and conducive learning environment.
He also emphasized the importance of 3D printing, robotics kits, and VR in hands-on learning, helping students develop engineering and problem-solving skills essential for future STEM careers.
Malobago provided insights into current projects and the impact of the Innovation Hub, stating that one of the most exciting projects they are currently developing is the integration of Machine Learning into simple robotics. This initiative allows students to explore artificial intelligence in an accessible and hands-on way, proving that even small innovations can lead to significant advancements.
She further highlighted how the Innovation Hub fosters creativity and teamwork, describing it as a transformative experience for all involved. She explained that it provides an environment where students can freely explore, experiment, and develop ideas that align with the rapidly evolving world of technology.
Through hands-on projects, collaborative brainstorming, and mentorship from experienced individuals, students have gained a deeper understanding of artificial intelligence, programming, and automation.
