THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is elevating its approach to law enforcement with the launch of a new drone-based surveillance and training program aimed at enhancing public safety and operational efficiency across the city.
Acting City Director Colonel Mannan C. Muarip officially opened the Drone Operators Training on August 5 at the DCPO headquarters. The program brings together 58 personnel from various police units, all undergoing intensive training focused on boosting situational awareness, tactical coordination, and real-time intelligence gathering through aerial technology.
Complementing the training is the launch of Oplan “Eye in the Sky Patrol”, a strategic initiative that integrates drone surveillance into daily peace and order operations. The aerial patrols are expected to enhance the DCPO’s capability in crime monitoring, crowd control, and disaster response, enabling quicker deployment and better-informed decision-making during critical incidents.
“The Drone Operators Training and Eye in the Sky Patrol represent our drive to equip our force with cutting-edge tools in public service. We are investing not just in technology, but in people — our most valuable asset,” said Col. Muarip during the launch.
The initiative marks a significant step in modernizing the DCPO’s law enforcement methods. By embracing drone technology, the police force aims to build a more responsive, adaptive, and forward-thinking approach to public safety, underscoring its commitment to keeping Davao City safe and secure through innovation.
