THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has officially launched five simulation exercises (Simex) as part of its preparations for the upcoming 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE), in line with the Police Regional Office–Davao Region (PRO-Davao) Contingency Plan.
One of the key exercises was conducted on May 2 at Bolton Elementary School in Poblacion District. Led by the San Pedro Police Station, the drill tested the readiness of police personnel to handle potential election-related incidents.
"This is only a simulation exercise. There is no cause for alarm," the DCPO said in a public advisory, assuring residents that the drills are proactive measures to ensure a quick and coordinated response in case of real emergencies.
Under the leadership of Police Colonel Hansel M. Marantan, acting DCPO city director, the exercises focused on assessing operational readiness, emergency protocols, and the effectiveness of response equipment. The goal is to ensure safety, security, and efficient law enforcement operations during the election period.
The simulation also highlighted the importance of strong coordination between law enforcement agencies and the local community in maintaining peace and order during the elections.
Earlier that same day, the DCPO held a send-off ceremony for approximately 5,000 police personnel who will be deployed across the city for the May 12, 2025 polls. Reserve units from national support services, including the Special Action Force (SAF) and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, will remain on standby. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will also assist the Philippine National Police (PNP) in securing the election.
These efforts underscore DCPO’s commitment to safeguarding public safety and preserving the integrity of the democratic process in Davao City.
As the city gears up for the elections, Marantan expressed hope for a peaceful and orderly process. He urged all stakeholders—from candidates and political parties to voters and civil society—to help foster a respectful and violence-free electoral environment.
“By working together, we can ensure that the 2025 elections are not only secure, but also a genuine reflection of the people’s will—free from fear, intimidation, or disruption,” he said. DEF
