THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) arrested 441 individuals in May 2025 during a month-long series of intensified operations against illegal drugs, gambling, wanted fugitives, and unlicensed firearms.

Acting city police director Colonel Hansel Marantan said the campaign reflects the police force’s firm commitment to public safety. He credited the successful operations to strong coordination among law enforcement, local government units, barangay officials, and engaged community members.

Marantan said that the operations were driven by a genuine commitment to serve and protect. He added that the success in May was not solely the police's accomplishment, but a result of the trust and cooperation of the people of Davao.

Of the total arrests, 159 were for drug-related offenses. Police conducted 130 anti-drug operations, seizing 619 grams of shabu worth approximately P4.2 million and 351 grams of marijuana valued at over P42,000. Authorities filed appropriate charges against all suspects.

In the crackdown on illegal gambling, police apprehended 63 individuals and confiscated P16,925 in bet money. These operations targeted both street-level gambling and small-scale setups operating within communities.

Manhunt efforts also intensified, with police capturing 203 individuals with outstanding warrants. Among them, 62 were classified as “most wanted.” The arrests were carried out across various barangays in the city.

DCPO also continued its drive to get unlicensed firearms off the streets. Through 32 operations, police arrested 16 suspects and recovered 20 firearms. Eight guns were voluntarily surrendered, and seven were turned over for safekeeping under “Oplan Katok,” a door-to-door campaign promoting responsible gun ownership. Eighteen cases were filed for illegal possession of firearms.

Marantan reiterated the importance of community support in maintaining peace and order. He assured the public that the DCPO would remain vigilant and proactive in securing all areas of the city.

These accomplishments are part of the DCPO’s broader strategy to strengthen law enforcement visibility and build public confidence through consistent and focused operations. DEF
