THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) announced on Thursday, March 27, 2025, that they are now closely investigating both the Bajada Police Station mobile unit and the person who took the video showing the mobile unit making an illegal U-turn in Bajada, Davao City, on March 24.

Following the release of the video that went viral, DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Caballero Tuazon clarified in a media interview with GMA Regional TV One Mindanao that they are now working to identify who took the video.

According to her, if it is confirmed that the driver recorded the footage while operating a vehicle, the driver will face a violation under Republic Act 10913 (Anti-Distracted Driving Act).

"The law prohibits the use of mobile communication devices while driving. Violators may face penalties, including a fine of P5,000 for the first offense, P10,000 for the second offense, and P15,000 for the third offense, along with a three-month suspension of their driver’s license", Tuazon said.

Meanwhile, DCPO acting city director Police Colonel Hansel Marantan has ordered a thorough investigation into the police mobile’s traffic violation. If no valid reason is provided for the illegal U-turn, the officers involved will face sanctions in accordance with police regulations.

Marantan also emphasized the importance of police officers serving as role models in upholding traffic laws and ensuring public safety. Cine Grace Langoyan, DoRSU Intern
