THE Poong Nazareno-Davao will commemorate its 10th Feast Day on January 9, 2024, and devotees encourage all Dabawenyos to attend this year's Traslacion.
The event organizers have invited the youth and families to join the sacred festivities as a way to thank the Poong Jesus Nazareno for the blessings they have received this year.
This year’s theme is “Pabilin kamo kanako, ug Ako magpabilin kaninyu (John 15:4).”
“Isip pagsaulog sa ika-10 nga Kapistahan sa Mahal na Poong Jesus Nazareno dinhi sa atong Siyudad, gianunsyo sa mga organisers niining kapistahan nga aron mas mapaduol pa ang Nazareno sa iyang Katawhan, igawas ug iduaw ang official replica sa 3 ka mga Parokya dinhi sa Arkidiyosesis sa Dabaw sulod sa adlaw sa Nobenaryo gikan Disyembre 31 hangtud Enero 8,” the organizers said in a Facebook post, on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
(As part of the celebration of the 10th Feast of the Holy Lord Jesus Nazareno here in our City, the organizers of this feast announced that in order to bring the Nazareno closer to His people, the official replica will be taken out and visit three parishes within the Archdiocese of Davao during the days of the Novena, from December 31 to January 8)
The organizers announced that the replica will visit the Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Parish in Indangan, Buhangin, Davao City, on January 4 to 5; then it will proceed to the St. Mary of the Perpetual Rosary Parish in Cabantian, Buhangin, Davao City, on January 6 to 7; and finally, it will be at the San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish in Mandug, Buhangin, Davao City, on January 8, 2024.
On January 9, the day of the feast of the Poong Nazareno, there will be a solemn Traslacion procession starting at San Alfonso Maria de Liguori Parish, proceeding to the Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel in Dela Tigatto, Buhangin, around 10 a.m. and at 6 p.m.
During the Traslacion, the public is encouraged to bring their own image of the Poong Nazareno to be blessed by the priests.
The organizers expect thousands of devotees to join the sacred festivities and hope that through these events, the faith of the Dabawenyos will be strengthened despite the challenges the city is facing.
Also, the office has unveiled a new logo for the 10th feast of the Nazareno. The logo represents the public's gratitude to the Poong Nazareno for its arrival in the city.
The Poong Nazareno enshrined at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia GKK Chapel, Deca Tigatto, Buhangin, Davao City, is an official replica of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of the Poong Jesus Nazareno, also known as Quiapo Church. RGP
