THE Don Manuel H. Gutierrez Sr. Elementary School in Matina, Davao City, conducted a series of events in November to celebrate the nation's Filipino Values Month. With the theme "Pagsusulong ng Bagong Pilipinas: Ang Kabataan Bilang Pundasyon Ng Pagbabago," the school's events highlighted the crucial role of Filipino youth in driving positive transformation and the country's development.
DMHGS also held "Valuelympics" to showcase the learners' talents and skills in show-and-tell, poem recitation, singing competition, folk dancing, and Sayawit.
A Values Advocacy video and photostory were also organized to promote Filipino culture and heritage.
Matina School District GMRC Coordinator Emaluz Saniel, during an interview, emphasized the youth's role as the "bedrock of change" saying, "With proper guidance and opportunity, the youth can be empowered to lead and shape a brighter future for the nation."
She also stressed the young people's energy, creativity, and innovative ideas essential to addressing contemporary challenges.
The celebration aims to create moral awakening and national consciousness on human values that are unique, genuine, and positively Filipino. Contributed by Janice D. Montalvo, EdD, Don Manuel H. Gutierrez Sr. Elementary School, Matina District, Division of Davao City
