Dost-PCIEERD Deputy Executive Director Niñaliza Escorial emphasized the importance of the research laboratory in building human capital and enhancing the academic and research capacities of specialists in Davao.

“The purpose of this project is to provide more opportunities for researchers and help public universities improve the quality of their research education while exploring new research possibilities,” she said. Escorial added that iNatProd is open to experts and science professionals from public and private institutions, not just those affiliated with DOrSU.

Escorial also highlighted that DOrSU’s commitment to strengthening research and development (R&D) in Davao Oriental made it a deserving recipient of the grant.

“They did not stop sourcing from one institution and nakikita nyo talaga yung plano nila (They didn’t limit themselves to just one institution. We can see their plans),” she added.

Davao Oriental, located in the southeastern part of the Philippines, has been advancing in scientific research, particularly in fields like agriculture, marine biology, environmental science, and renewable energy. With its rich natural resources and biodiversity, the province offers abundant opportunities for scientific innovation.

As the only university in the province, DOrSU plays a significant role in advancing environmental research, technology, and agricultural science. The university provides programs and research facilities that promote innovation and progress in these fields. DEF
