
THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will file multiple criminal charges against a driver who allegedly intentionally struck a traffic enforcer on January 11, 2024.
PCapt. Hazel Tuazon, DCPO spokesperson, announced the driver will face charges of reckless driving, reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury, and disobedience of a person in authority.
“File-an gyud siya og kaso sa reckless driving, reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury, and disobedience of person in authority or pagsukol sa atoang CTTMO (He will be charged with reckless driving, reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury, and disobedience of a person in authority for resisting our CTTMO personnel),” Tuazon said during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps on January 15, 2025.
The Land Transportation Office-Davao Region (LTO) will also conduct an investigation, with the possibility of revoking the driver’s license.
The incident, which occurred near Gaisano Mall Bajada, was captured on video and quickly gained attention online. The driver appeared before the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on January 14, offering his side of the story and surrendering to the DCPO the same day.
CTTMO Head Dionisio Abude confirmed that documents—including a medical certificate, police blotter, and CCTV footage—would be submitted to the LTO to determine the driver’s penalties. RGP
