SINCE its launch in 2024, Duaw Davao has remained a peaceful celebration for two consecutive years, with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) once again declaring this year’s festivities incident-free, thanks to strong community cooperation.
In a statement, DCPO officer-in-charge Col. Mariano C. Rodriguez praised the unified efforts of law enforcement agencies, the local government, non-government organizations, the private sector, and the Davaoeño community in maintaining public safety throughout the event.
"This milestone is a manifestation of the extra collaboration of the law enforcement agencies, the local government unit, non-government organizations, and other private sectors, and especially the Davaoeños themselves, whose cooperation and discipline added to the overall success of the festivity," Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez highlighted Davao City’s deepening "culture of security," noting that safety is a shared responsibility among all sectors of society.
“Safety is not just the job of a few, but a shared commitment by all,” he added, underscoring the importance of mutual respect, proactive awareness, and community solidarity.
The DCPO also commended all security personnel for their professionalism and dedication, which helped create a “safe, orderly, and protective space” for festival-goers across various venues.
Duaw Davao, launched in 2024, is Davao City’s newest annual festival celebrating its rich culture, heritage, tourism, arts, and sense of community. Held every second quarter of the year, the event draws both locals and visitors alike.
According to SunStar Davao's previous report, the festival’s inaugural year was also declared “generally peaceful,” with no incidents of violence, reflecting the city’s ongoing commitment to peace and order during major events. DEF
