

THE Dutertes continued their political dominance in Davao City, leading in nearly every major local position in the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE), according to partial and unofficial results from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
As of 11:58 p.m. on May 12, with 77.92 percent of precincts reporting, former President Rodrigo Duterte (FPRRD) emerged as the leading candidate for mayor with 644,000 votes. His closest competitors, Karlo Alexie Nograles and Bishop Rob Cubos, trailed significantly behind with 79,357 and 7,657 votes, respectively.
Meanwhile, FPRRD’s son, incumbent Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, leads the vice mayoral race with 632,968 votes, ahead of Bernie Al-ag with 77,449 and Oyie Soriano-Barcena with 5,107.
In the race for congressional seats, Paolo “Pulong” Duterte, the former president’s eldest son, leads the first district representative race with 198,597 votes. He is followed by Atty. Margarita “Migs” Nograles with 48,065 and Mags Maglana with 3,262. In the second district, Pulong’s son, Omar Duterte, is also ahead with 160,086 votes, while Javi Garcia Campos follows with 90,005, and Melogen Mentesclaros trails with 1,824. For the third district, incumbent Isidro Ungab is leading with 169,655 votes, maintaining a comfortable margin over Nonoy Al-ag with 29,207 and Ruy Elias Lopez with 17,710.
In the city council races, members and allies of the Duterte family also dominated. Rodrigo Duterte II, son of Pulong, garnered the highest votes for first district councilor with 187,834. He was followed closely by Atty. J. Melchor Quitain with 170,938, Atty. Luna Acosta with 160,459, Cookie Bonguyan with 149,618, Bonz Militar with 146,415, Ragde Niño Ibuyan with 143,941, Temujin “Tek” Ocampo with 141,279, and Pamela “Pameng” Librado with 128,049.
In the second district, Atty. Diosdado Mahipus Jr. led the councilor race with 147,910 votes. He was followed by Ralph Abella with 147,674, Louie John Bonguyan with 135,431, Che Che Justol with 135,339, Al Ryan Alejandre with 129,735, Danny Dayanghirang with 123,690, Nonong Cabling with 114,683, and Doce Apostol with 111,986.
For the third district, Alberto Ungab topped the list with 145,430 votes, followed by Doc Enzo Villafuerte with 137,195, and Atty. Sweet Advincula with 128,776, Petite Principe with 122,134, Rachel Zozobrado with 121,445, Doc Potpot Villafuerte with 120,723, Jopet Baluran with 119,051, and Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz with 112,389. RGP
Earlier in the day, Dabawenyos showed up in large numbers at their designated precincts to cast their votes. While the process was mostly peaceful, some voters experienced challenges, including long queues, over-voting, and minor technical issues. RGP
