BEHIND a hit fantasy series novel is the consistency of the author when it comes to plots and twists of the story. Fiction has always been an amazing genre to read especially if you have a wild imagination.
With characters that are sometimes way beyond our wildest dreams and settings that seems so vivid in our minds.
That’s where Cassandra Clare doubled up the fun in the world of fiction, when she created a story where she integrated mythical creatures- The Mortal Instruments, an epic six-book fantasy series.
This series is filled with mysterious faeries, hard-partying warlocks, not-what-they-seem vampires, an army of werewolves, and the Nephilims.
I finished reading the six books and was able to experience how to fight monsters with the characters (lol). It was not an ordinary plot that everyone expects in a book, yes there may be conflict against the vampires and werewolves, the dark magic of the warlocks, and the cliché love stories between the protagonists, but what amazed me throughout the duration of this series was how Clare was so consistent with the events.
‘The Mortal Instruments’ made me go beyond the limits of my imagination. It may be fictional, but despite all the make-believe the story has imposed, still it has mirrored real life scenarios which are full of lessons.
Well, I can say that all those sleepless nights were worth it, the moments where I hid the books under the desk as I read it during class discussions, the time when I was scolded by the librarian because I shouted while I was reading a fight scene.
There were no regrets, just eagerness to read the sequel. I spent a week doing nothing after I finished reading the last book just to try to suck it all in. I had to read again the first book just to not be affected of the ending, sounds so silly but well that’s how I coped up.
