I'VE been quiet for months. Sorry about that. But all that is happening in Philippine politics had me tongue-tied. It has reached a level of inanity that throttled all logic in what remained of my brain, so I just shut up.
I'm back! And it's because, finally, the ridiculous have been properly identified and thrust in their own noisy corner.
The Supreme Court has spoken, unanimously. The Senate has spoken, with just the very few noisy members saying the impeachment was proper and deserved to be hard.
The House of Congress? Let them be. They have been exposed for what they are. Let time sweep them off to forgotten spheres.
The past months just show what corruption can do. This is an appeal to the "semi-corrupted" to stay far away. It's not a pretty picture to see your brain emptied and exposed.
There are still major arguments that will arise. We are very sure of that! But at least we know and are assured that even the unaligned have their brains intact and it's just democracy at work.
I shudder in recollecting how it was in the last weeks before elections when "ayuda" was the name of the game and the masses were all lining up for their share. I feared for the future of the country when the likes of Quimbo, Abante, and Fernando were the daily fare while the whole Lower House were ominously quiet except for very, very, very few like Marcoleta and Bato.
Sanity prevailed. For the moment.
No wonder Martin wants that impeachment proceedings so much. The tide can change in three months. He cannot wait for six months.
Still ...
We can never be sure about what else the Lower House will manage to feed us in the coming months. But it helps to know that our Justices and our Senators will still fight for what's right.
This is not about Inday. This is about our sanity and corruption. The bots and the trolls can continue spewing filth. But this time we are assured that they are nothing but money-hungry bots and trolls and a few, very, very few rabid diehards who claim to be the voice of the taumbayan. Paghilom diha!
In the meantime, the masses will have their daily fare of Ante Kler. Three months ago, I would be worrying about the media feeding us with all her lies. But today, I smile in the knowing that she serves a purpose: to entertain the masses.
