A dash of green at your homes

THERE is a growing trend nowadays of incorporating modern interior with ornamental plants to give more refreshing aesthetic designs and add life to homes or spaces.

Marisol Vicente, the owner of a store selling ornamental plants just beside People's Park shared in an interview that there were several clients who are going to her to ask her to be their supplier for ornamental plants, which comes either hanging or potted.

Once you visit her store, there are plenty of plants she sells which grow in different sizes, shapes and appearance. Ornamental Plants is grown essentially for decorative purposes in gardens and landscape design projects and even as houseplants.

An ornamental plant enhances a dull space inside and room and brings life to it. These indoor plants can add just the right amount of intrigue as they are organic and fresh to the eyes.

Marisol added that ornamental plants have very long life span unlike any ordinary plants. It doesn't get easily withered and requires less maintenance and minimal supervision. It can grow a certain period of time even without water poured on it.

One of the plants found in her store is Cryptanthus bromeliads, more commonly known as Earth Stars due to their shape, are beautiful and incredibly varied plants that naturally grow in tropical areas. Its price depends on its size ranging from P300 to P800.

They also have aerial plants. These tropical plants are epiphytes or an organism that grows on the surface of a plant and derives its moisture and nutrients from the air, rain, water. or from debris accumulating around it. The tiny scales on their leaves, called trichomes, absorb water and nutrients directly from the air, and even help shade the plant from scorching sun.

Vicente said they do not use fertilizer for their plants and all are organic.

Aside from selling, she also teaches the clients on how to aesthetically arrange their plants using recyclable materials. For instance, she used the spare of electric fan where plants can be hanged.

Having plants at your home or even at your workplace have a positive effect -- it can help reduce stress and fatigue and it may even enhance productivity.
